Collections, call center, investigation - if you're results driven, a number of backgrounds will fit

To be a good fit for the role of Skip Trace Investigator, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent required; an associate's degree or college coursework preferred  Quick question for you - click here
  • Experience in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Ideal candidates will have collections / repossession (highly preferred), call center (preferred), or similar experience. A background or interest in law enforcement is a plus 
  • Knowledge or understanding of internet search tools (e.g. social media, public records, and other public tools) utilized to trace individuals and/or collateral.
  • Computer proficiency including:
    • PC knowledge with comfort working in Windows and learning proprietary and other systems. RDN experience preferred; experience with IBEAM or other skip tracing software is a plus
    • Strong and accurate keyboarding skills, strong phone skills, and knowledge of Internet search tools
    • Experience with MS Office Suite, including basic Excel skills (e.g., sort, filter and data entry) and Outlook or similar email software Quick question for you - click here
  • The drive to meet resolution / repossession targets while working within legal and company requirements; a background working in an incentive- or commission-based role is a plus 
    Bilingual, English / Spanish is plus
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. for any employer

As Skip Trace Investigator, your primary responsibilities will include using internet databases and phone tools to locate customers and/or collateral. Daily, you will utilize paid databases, provided and found search sites, social media, and other tools as you manage an assigned portfolio of clients and cases. Approximately 50% of your time will be spent making outbound calls, the number of which will be determined by the complexity of your assigned portfolio. When you are able to reach the customer, you will take an ethical stance, bringing confidence, professionalism, and emotional intelligence to the conversation. That may mean providing empathy, negotiating the return of a vehicle, deescalating a challenging conversation -- whatever is appropriate for the encounter. Being able to think on your feet and bring a strong service orientation to every interaction will be key. Quick question for you - click here Additionally, you will:
  • Work with and build successful relationships with repossession agents and clients in order to effectively service accounts
  • Conduct an initial review / scrub of information provided by clients to ensure accuracy
  • Communicate verbally or systematically with clients and/or contractors to:
    • Provide updates regarding account status and recommend changes if needed
    • Obtain new leads on customers/collateral locations
    • Obtain any necessary documentation or guidance to pursue the collateral/customers, such as credit applications/reference sheets and relevant prior communications
    • Provide frequent updates to summarize progress made throughout the lifecycle of orders until concluded 
  • Perform skip tracing of customers and/or other parties to:
    • Identify the best-known address to locate the client’s collateral or customer
    • Determine if the client’s customer has filed bankruptcy, is on active duty with the military, and is the current owner/registrant of the vehicle
  • Bring a sense of urgency and positivity to your work; view each interaction as an opportunity
